It’s been quite a while since we did a color challenge, so this time we’re shooting for Yellow! Mellow yellow, sunshine yellow, lemon yellow or golden yellow – every shade and saturation of yellow seems to bring to mind happy, bright, sun filled days. What a cheerful subject for the challenge!

To officially enter the Creative Challenge, you must tag your three submissions with creative-challenge-yellow. You can then view them and everyone else’s submissions on the DISPLAY PAGE (it updates about every hour). To find out more about this, read the Using Tags on Creative Challenges post.
Submission Guidelines
1. Our editors look for sharp, clear horizontal images that are at a minimum resolution of 800×600 (submissions can have larger resolutions than this). Currently, vertical images cannot fit in the homepage template. Therefore, we cannot publish vertical or narrow panoramic images.
2. Images with added text or images, including watermarks, logos, copyright symbols, graphic borders, frames and time stamps, will not be considered for first place or being featured on the homepage at a later date. Collages, however, are acceptable. Images submitted should be your own.
3. Please do not submit pictures that have already been featured on the homepage.
4. The Creative Challenge runs from 12:01 a.m. on May 26 to 12:00 p.m. on June 7 (all times EST).
5. 3 pictures per person (regardless of how many member accounts you have) tagged exactly (including hyphens) with: creative-challenge-yellow

Webshots is very excited to introduce our new professional photos section! It’s been over 10 years since this part of the site has been updated, so we gave it a complete overhaul from top to bottom. Not only does it look good, but it also has new, robust technology that will make it easier to add features for you!

We’ve made the photos bigger, so you can really immerse yourself in them. Plus, you can “Like” any of our professional photos, which will add it to your Facebook wall.
New Navigation
We’re seeing more downloads than ever thanks to you, so we’re excited that our new navigation system is helping you find great photos. Our navigation works by refining photos so you can find exactly what you’re looking for. For example, I wanted to see sunrise photos in California, so I used the left-hand side navigation: Nature > Sunrises > Travel > North American > United States > California. And look, we have eight amazing ones!
We’ve also updated the professional photos navigation menu so you can easily access our most popular topics, such as National Parks and Pets, anywhere on the site.
Daily Professional Photos & Archive
Webshots publishes four new professional photos every day! You can find them on the professional photos homepage in the main carousel with the “daily” tab on them. The first two are only for our Premium members, the next two are free, and the last is a selection from our collection of over 4,000 photos—just in case you missed it.
If you’re looking for the archive, we’ve made a handy link called Previous Daily Photos right on the homepage. We’re working on a fix so that the page will automatically sort by newest, but you can also order the photos by highest rated, top downloaded and Premium.
New Photos!
We’re adding new photos all the time, and you can find them on the category (such as Animals) and subcategory (such as Dogs) pages in the top carousel. Also, all photos that have been on the site 90 days or less will have a new tab on them.
Search
We’ve split out the professional photos from the member photos so that we can update the professional photos results much faster. You can also refine your results by using the tabs at the top to show only professional photos or just Premium ones.
Downloading to the Desktop Application
Before you download photos on Webshots, make sure you have the latest version of the Desktop Application. Once installed, you can download up to 5 photos a day as a free member and unlimited photos as a Premium member. Premium members can also download a page of photos with just one click—just look for the “download page” tab.
Based on your feedback, we’re already working on changes to how photos are organized once you download them to the Desktop Application. Currently, though, if you download right from the homepage, the photos will go into Daily Photos. If you click on the photo and go to its photo page, it will download to the category it’s in, such as Travel > California Collection. If you go to the Previous Daily Photos archive and download it, it will download to the Archive – General.

Many of our challenges focus on the beauty in nature, from gardens, valleys, mountains and lakes. But beauty isn’t limited to the countryside, so for this challenge we asked our members to turn their lenses to the hustle and bustle of the city. From amazing vistas of skyscraper filled skies, to the people, places and faces that make the cities around us so unique.
Our members entered such a wide array of images, that it was very difficult to narrow down the winners. We especially enjoyed those images which included unique photographic techniques and graphic creative compositions. If you would like to browse all the entries, visit the display page.
1. New York, Times Square – Taxi Swisssh by member rodemicheli
Nice Job with using a combination of techniques in this classic view of Times Square. By using black and white with selective color the photographer helps maintain focus on the important subject matter in a scene that would otherwise be overwhelming. The use of a tripod with a slower exposure helps keep the scene sharp, while capturing the motion of the taxi cabs. Congratulations! We’ll feature your photo on the homepage tomorrow!
