Dear Members,

Over the last several months, Webshots has been made over! We launched a new professional photos section and a new homepage that compliment the photos and showcase our community of member and professional photographers.

As we continue to grow, one of our goals is to provide more photos for you from new and upcoming professional photographers. We want to support these artists and their amazing work. We’ve already added the Professional Spotlight on the homepage, and soon we’ll be adding bios about our photographers so you can learn more about them and the pictures they take.

We will be offering free members a our lowest subscription price ever ($14.99 a year) in conjunction with Webshots’ 15th Anniversary celebration (launching September 30) to make it affordable to join and support Webshots, its photographers, and all the amazing photos you love so much! We hope many of our free members join our Premium member family that’s 100,000 members strong and growing every day!

We will also be reducing the amount of professional photos that you can download as a free member from five a day to one a day. We will still be offering new free photos, so we hope you come back every day to see our featured picks. To make it easy to find your one free photo to download, we’ll be adding free labels to the photos. After you have downloaded your one regular-sized free photo, you’ll be asked to join Webshots, and we hope you do!

When you join as a Premium member, you’ll help support our new photographers, get unlimited downloads of professional photos in hi-res and widescreen, exclusive photos, such as our new Fall Photos collection, browse without ads, and more. Plus, we’ll be adding new features to our Premium membership in the upcoming months, so now’s the best time to join!

Dear Members,

Webshots uses Adobe Flash on many of its pages to bring you an enhanced viewing experience. Last Friday, Webshots experienced an issue related to its Adobe Flash galleries, which some of you saw as error #2046.

This error is the result of Adobe expiring the version of the Adobe library that we use for our Flash galleries on the same day, thus breaking our Flash as well as that of several thousands other sites.

We received word about the Flash issue while out celebrating our 15th Anniversary, and our team immediately headed back to the office and worked Friday night and the rest of the weekend to fix it. Our solution will prevent these issues from happening again as well as provide a more stable and optimized experience for everyone.

It’s been quite a while since our challenge featured a number, and the number 15 has special significance to us here at Webshots. For this challenge, submit your most interesting and best photos that represent the number 15. The winner will be featured in the “Big Picture” spot on the homepage! Whether you choose to shoot a group of 15, the number “15″, 15 perspectives of your subject, or some other representation, your entries are sure to be as interesting and varied as you are!

OFFICIAL ENTRY RULES
To officially enter the Creative Challenge, you must tag your three submissions with creative-challenge-15. You can then view them and everyone else’s submissions on the DISPLAY PAGE (it updates about every hour). To find out more about this, read the Using Tags on Creative Challenges post.

Submission Guidelines
1. Our editors look for sharp, clear horizontal images that are at a minimum resolution of 800×600 (submissions can have larger resolutions than this). Currently, vertical images cannot fit in the homepage template. Therefore, we cannot publish vertical or narrow panoramic images.

2. Images with added text or images, including watermarks, logos, copyright symbols, graphic borders, frames and time stamps, will not be considered for first place or being featured on the homepage at a later date. Collages, however, are acceptable. Images submitted should be your own.

3. Please do not submit pictures that have already been featured on the homepage.

4. The Creative Challenge runs from 12:01 a.m. on September 15 to 12:00 p.m. on September 27 (all times EST).

5. 3 pictures per person (regardless of how many member accounts you have) tagged exactly (including hyphens) with: creative-challenge-15

*Note:Images that don’t meet the exact guidelines can be submitted and viewed for everyone to enjoy, but please understand that we cannot publish images that don’t meet minimum guidelines on the homepage. Also, now that you’re tagging your entries, you don’t need to post links in the comments section anymore.
