This Month’s Featured Professional Photographer is Roger Canada. He has contributed several Pro Tips and beautiful photos of the Great Smoky Mountains on Webshots for many years. While a photograph may be worth 1000 words, we thought it would be interesting to learn more about the photographer behind the images.
Share your goal as a photographer. What makes for a successful day?
For me a successful day of photography is to come home with one keeper image, an image that has that extra something to elevate it from a nice shot to a wow shot. After many years of photographing landscapes I still get that feeling of euphoria when all the elements come together and this is almost always dictated by Mother Nature.
What’s your favorite memory in the field when you were capturing a photo.
Every one of my favorite images triggers a great memory for me but this image of aspens near Telluride, CO stands out for me. I was with another photographer friend and we were trying to make it to a certain place for the big sunset shot when we came around the corner and saw this scene. We stayed here so long that we totally missed the big vista sunset spot!
