In honor of Earth Day, we’re highlighting a photo of Bahia de los Angeles, a fishing village on the east side of the Baja California peninsula. The Sea of Cortez is inhabited by an enormous variety of endangered marine mammals: dolphins, seals and sea turtles, to name a few.

This rugged coastline holds tremendous biological and ecological significance, and is threatened by overfishing, industrial development and pollution. It was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 2005.
