When I became a Premium Member (with a fee) about two years ago, I was promised a “commercial-free” Webshots environment.
Believing this is still in effect, I referred to the data in your information page stating differences between regular and premium members. Here is what I have just found: “No ads! not even one!
Say good-bye to all ads whatsoever”!!!!
Then, can you explain to me why I am greeted on the Webshots homepage by a:”CELEBRATE OUR NEW STORE WITH A FREE 16 OZ. MUG! LIMITED SUPPLY! ENTER CODE FREE MUG AT CHECKOUT, SHIPPING AND TAX NOT INCLUDED” It most certainly appears to me as blatant advertising, loudly enhanced by loud and aggressive red and green Christmas-related colors! Please explain. I really would like to have OTHER PREMIUM MEMBERS’ opinion about this. Should we all request refunds for our membership’s fee?

Today’s Home page is a SCREAMING DISASTER!

ATTN: WS staff–please refer to my comments posted under the current kitchen challenge!

LOSE the SCREAMING RED and GLOWING GREEN! It’s so obnoxiously commercial and an affront to anyone with an artistic temperament.

This in-your-face tactic only turns people off from purchasing or acquiring mugs OR ANYTHING ELSE, for that matter!

When I tried it said “sorry” coupon code could not be applied to my order I guess it was because the mug I choose was cheaper than the 16oz mug.

Forget the Freemug, do something about the horror colour of the Home page.

The site is still down. How frustrating is that! My question is what is going to happen to free orders that are submitted and suplies are exhausted? Will the order be rejected or will you automatically charge the credit card that has been used for the shipping. That may be answered during the order process, but since I can’t accesss the site, I wondered what your game plan was. By the way, the red background for the Home Page is awful for trying to view the photos that are displayed on the Home Page. I hope it doesn’t stay that way until Christmas.

Fine, give away a mug, but PLEASE take that hideous background off the home page!!

I get the same message…page is temporarily unavailable. I also agree that garish colors of the homepage are an assault to the eyes.

I suspect that the supply of mugs is already exhausted. If so, perhaps the ad for the free mug should be changed ASAP.

I agree 100 % with Annick. The Membership Features, that she refers to, is at http://www.webshots.com/page/matrix .I mentioned this in a another blog, about 1 or 2 years ago. “no ads! not even one!
Say good-bye to all ads whatsoever” Webshots is violating their agreement, with the paying members, by forcing the ads on us. We are paying money, every year, to be AD FREE. If I want to buy something, from the store, then I will. But, I do not want the ads, the ugly home page, etc. Should Webshots continue to violate their agreement, with the paying members, then Webshots NEEDS to refund our money.

Ohhhhhhh, how much did I love the black background on the slideshow function… spitefully its also gone :( I uploaded a “sunset” album and it turns out horrible with the new homepage colours and adds on it!

I also left a message on the kitchen challenge page about the SCREAMING RED homepage. This sort of thing adds no value to the webshots experience & is very childish! If you carry on like this more of your members will be deserting you. I have already had to create a bookmark folder on my pc fo the members I admire who have already moved to other sites because of the bad experience that webshots is now becoming. Please have a bit of decoram & become a little bit more artistic, GET RID OF THE RED.

I agree with the others, get rid of the red background! It makes it hard to see the photos.

I also agree with Annick regarding the advertising. I pay to have NO advertising. That includes NO advertsing from Webshots or American Greetings, not just outside vendors.

Yes, it sucks the site I pay for doesn’t let me customize it the way I want. I thought I was paying for an AD FREE experience.

I have to agree the shocking red is hideous please take it down. That child like background does not do our photos or the pro photos any favors! I also agree that there really shouldnt be any ads, that is 1 of the perks for being premium members. No ads not from webshots or anyone else period. Is the page even displaying properly? Under the link for the blog is the word featured and under that the space is empty, is it suposed to be that way?

Gahhhh. Get rid of the red. Can barely see the pics through the glare. Have been to busy to spend much time on the site these days, but the morning peek will be going away, too, with this kind of ick. And I commented and complained about the “ad-free” conditions for premium members for quite a while. It did not stop, so I started coming less and less. I won’t buy this junk ever. Most particularly since you break the membership agreement by pushing it so hard.

I agree with the 2 comment from the top, but also find it a real joke when you offer something free then charge 19.99 (20 bucks) for shipping

This promotion is blocking the ability to download daily photos. Let us choose an option to not have to sign up for a free mug.

Is the red horror home page the visual equivalent of rap music? Is it a Machiavellian joke, or is the person responsible colour blind? I need to know before I cancel my renewal due next month, and get serious about my new account with Red Bubble.

What is wrong with the download feature? I even tried to download one of my own photos and got this message:
“The Webshots page you have requested has either moved or no longer exists.”

Out of curiosity, is this broke forever or overwhelmed with requests? I have tried everyday at all times of day and night for a week and get only:
We’re Sorry
The Web page you’re trying to reach is having a technical problem.
We should have it fixed shortly.

Thank you, WS staff!

I am in complete agreement with the other premium members who are unhappy with Webshots since it became assimilated into American Greetings. The ads, colors, changes to slide shows…. all bad. The old QOOP site had better calendar choices, too. I still get my calendars from them.

I think this is the last year I will be a premium member. The weak and delayed response to the SPAM issue, as well as the apparent disregard for the opinions of the premium members leads me to believe my money will be better spent elsewhere.

What will it take for you to REMOVE AND CHANGE this hideous RED background from the HOMEPAGE?
WHY are you not taking your members request in CONSIDERATION?
