Almost American Gothic

Filed under: General — Jessica, Community Muse at 12:00 am on Saturday, August 26, 2006

As this lone young farmer taken by Webshots member kelseyagnew stands with his pitchfork, he reminds us the famous painting American Gothic by Grant Wood, a native of Iowa.

Painted in 1930, the image portrays a man holding a pitchfork and a woman standing slightly behind him in front of a Carpenter Gothic–style house. The painting is located at the Art Institute of Chicago, which is home to some of the most well-known works of art.

This photo looks like some of the “farm boys” that live in my neck of the woods! Congratulations on your POTD! Wonderful image.

Just want to put in my disapproval of the NEW WEBSHOTS. I DO NOT care for it or the layout at all! I have enjoyed it for a long time, now…..(since my Interest in computer)…and I am very disappointed in it now. I am MORE INTERESTED in MY FRIENDS and FAMILIES photos than those offered by WEBSHOTS for downloading…since I am a senior citizen perhaps I am in the wrong forum here. I pay to be a member as I posted so many photos to share with family members. I AM THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
